Theme: Adaptable city
The proposal is made for a future structure, in which optimal use is made of the space that is now created by changing the function of the traffic. The structure attempts to provide interfaces for the development deployed for the surrounding areas and also a long-term perspective and framework with gradual, adaptable infill. The former Hotel de Kroon is situated in a prominent location. Due to the new integral design, the building is now easy accessible and fits in the concept of the design. The monumental status and architecture provides a context for the new developments.

The design of the public area, the layout of Koemarkt and the connections of the structuring axes, is focussed on a basis of pedestrian oriented design filled with addaptability by temporary projects. The site will gradually connect several public spaces, creating a pleasant public space triggering an abundance of street activities during the seasons.
